
Santa Cruz has become one of my favourite bands in 2016 after listening to their 2nd, self-titled album. Since I have been interested in webdesign for some time too, I have chosen this Finnish band to improve my design skills. On top of that, thanks to creating Santa Cruz website, I have developed my skills using Sketch.
Drawing on the knowledge of bands, the concert ticket sales and merchandise are prioritised on the index page. The initial website therefore includes a photo with a link to tour dates (overlaying the image, as seen below), a shop with priced merchandise at the bottom right, and of course the Spotify player on the left, as well as Instagram profile feed to show recent news. For more contact with the band, the important social networks are displayed at the very top.


The burger menu on the right side is something else than what we traditionally know - it opens a set of tabs that display the information at the front without disturbing the surrounding content.
The mockup below shows the band tab with a band overview and members' profiles with their individual social network profiles.

Having all official videos neatly stored in one place and playing them in the upper window can be even easier than clicking the youtube icon. Included are the latest band's own videos showing how the third album is getting recorded. To make sure that the effort pays off, links to the iTunes, website basket and Amazon are present in the page to lead the fan to buy Santa Cruz's music.
