THE BRIEF
This 10-week project was created during my time at university, and while initially unsatisfied with my design progress, I enjoyed working on this event's full branding/visual identity brief. This is a result of my later re-submission.
Photo London is an international contemporary fair held in London’s Somerset house in May and brings together the world’s leading galleries in a major international photography fair. You are asked to create the visual identity for Photo London and to design the catalogue that will accompany the exhibition.
The visual identity must understand and clearly represent the context and intentions of the show and also be an exciting and contemporary solution that is relevant to the graphic landscape.
The catalogue should recognize the visual identity but also be a book in it's own right and not a slave to its restrictions. The focus will be on creating an interesting and relevant experience that acknowledges the rich history of book design and its contemporary context, but also on detailing. Typesetting is crucial (isn't it always in a book?). There is no fixed format and you will have to hand in a proper mock-up of your catalogue.

CATALOGUE LAYOUT

PROCESS
The branding colours were taken from the submitted photos to connect with the exhibition. The shapes that defined the final identity were taken from the shapes of cameras and lenses.

SHAPE LANGUAGE

PROCESS: CATALOGUE PRINT LAYOUT
As you probably noticed above, when compared, this WIP version is a bit "wilder". I toned down the introductory pages of the catalogue for the final print.

POSTER OPTIONS
Some of these posters don't look too shabby, but the typography here is very weak.
